I’ve found this fascinating. The desire by Obama to distance himself from, but not to break with, someone he clearly admired and respected at one time. And then, as Bob Herbert described in his Times piece, the “I’ll Show You” tour Rev. Wright seems to be enjoying. Now, Obama does what he must do if he wants to put this behind him:

“Whatever relationship I had with Reverend Wright has changed as a consequence of this,” Mr. Obama said Tuesday. “I don’t think that he showed much concern for me. More importantly, I don’t think he showed much concern for what we’re trying to do in this campaign and what we’re trying to do for the American people.”
